The TensorFlow Certification: get official recognition, but it’s hard!

The Dawn of A.I.

“We are living in the dawn of A.I.” says Forbes. If you work in, well, most industries, you have probably heard of the prowess of Artificial Intelligence. Whether it’s a deep fake of president Obama addressing the nation, or these crazy ads you get as soon as you Google something, it’s no surprise to anyone that, today, information is power.

With the rise of A.I. also comes the rise of the “Data Scientist”, the person behind all these supernatural feats. The definition of a Data Scientist has changed over time, but I like to stick to the simple definition of an “effective machine learning practitioner”.

The Fake Data Scientist and how NOT to be one

However, we have seen an avalanche of people changing their title to “Data Scientist” on LinkedIn. It’s as if the title of “Data Scientist” is on sale at the Dollar Store! We even have guides on how to spot “Fake Data Scientists”.

There are basically 3 ways that you can prove to the world you are a real data scientist:

  1. You have created and implemented A.I. models that are in production that have a quantifiable business impact on your line of work
  2. You have written a scientific paper that leverages the use of Machine Learning techniques
  3. You are certified by Google or Facebook as a Machine Learning engineer.

I want to expand more on that 3rd point and what it entails.

The TensorFlow Certification: Google’s recognition of your Machine Learning skills

For those who don’t know, TensorFlow is by far the most popular Machine Learning framework for Neural Networks, according to Forbes and Gartner. It was created by Google Brain, and is maintained by top data scientists around the world.

It’s impossible to pass the exam without true knowledge of TensorFlow and Deep Learning!

In order to get Certified in TensorFlow, you have to:

  1. Pass a 5-hour test administered by Google and TensorFlow
  2. Be deeply familiar (no pun intended) with all aspects of Deep Learning and advanced machine learning concepts. TensorFlow released a candidate handbook that highlights the knowledge needed to pass the exam.

But where to Begin? Bootcamps to the rescue!

Studying and passing a 5-hour exam on the most advance topic in computer science is not easy

And watching hours on end of online tutorials isn’t either!

Thankfully, companies like The Python Academy are finally offering TensorFlow certification bootcamps, where you spend 12-weeks with a TensorFlow-Certified instructor (who took the exam and passed it) learning about everything TensorFlow and how to pass the certification.

These bootcamps will give you all the knowledge and practice you will need to pass the exam.

Contact them now and become one of the 3,000 or so Certified Tensorflow Developers!
